Update regarding the announcement below from Arriva Trains Wales.
Thanks to the new platform at Cardiff Central and Network Rail signalling improvements, 104 extra seats can now be added to the 06:47 Treherbert to Cardiff service.
These aren’t new carriages but are being taken from elsewhere on the Arriva network. Moving existing carriages around to create more capacity on the Valley lines is welcome but we’re still not getting a good enough deal. This is only a temporary solution, and reduces capacity elsewhere in the region, such as on Penarth and Barry services. We need to see an overall increase in the number of carriages and services in Wales.
It’s good to see some progress, but we’re still far away from the service we deserve and I will keep pushing for more improvements.
