We face all the same issues in our own valley.

After 20 years living in rented property in pleasant street, pentre we had to move to temporary housing and realised when we had heavy rain that flooded the street again 4 days later and again in june we could not return to our previous home. We are now settled in our own home but the trauma of that night will always be with us. We were insured however, due to us losing everything we had downstairs we are still trying to complete our furnishings which is lot more expensive than the insurance payout was for, I’m very angry still that the organisation that I believe was instrumental in the flooding is still in denial, compensation will never take away what happened that night but it will help to replace some items we lost. Answers as to why this devastation happened after numerous warnings from the year before were ignored is the least the residents deserve, many of whom were not insured. I live in hope that the labour run council and assembly will listen to their conscious and stop denying the need for an independent enquiry.

Our house was not flooded but lost car and that was the least of our worries that terrifying night. Watching OH and neighbour risk their lives to save a taxi driver as Berw Road wall was collapsing then hours later rescuing two others who thought they could walk though it. How can any political party believe that a public enquiry is not necessary?

All political parties should be supporting this inquiry to get to the bottom of the problem and put measures in place to fix it.

My late dad was affected by these floods. He had lived in that house since 1953 & as far as I’m aware this was the first time the house had been flooded. There has to be an explanation for this.

My old house that I’m trying to sell was flooded and it had never been flooded before. I was there 26yrs and never had any problems with flooding. The house is 120-130 years old and never flooded before. It is on a hill with no water source behind it so I want answers through a public enquiry too.

It’s making it difficult to sell homes that have been flooded and to get house insurance and it’s through no fault of our own.
