Letter to Boris Johnson PM

Letter to Boris Johnson PM calling on him to re-open the investigation into Alun Cairns.

Llythyr at Boris Johnson AS yn galw arno i ail-agor yr ymchwiliad i Alun Cairns.

Dear Prime Minister

We know you are aware of the allegations against the MP for the Vale of Glamorgan, Alun Cairns, that he supported and promoted his friend Ross England as a candidate, as a member of his staff and his campaign manager, when he was aware of the strong likelihood that Mr England had deliberately collapsed a rape trial.

When this first came to light, Alun Cairns resigned as Secretary of State for Wales and a ministerial investigation was promised. The election then followed and Alun Cairns was selected by the Conservatives to be their candidate in the Vale Of Glamorgan, despite the fact he had resigned his ministerial position. Alun Cairns was re-elected.

The ministerial investigation that followed the election found no evidence to show he knew about the collapsed rape trial before he promoted his friend. It has since transpired that the investigation did not include any discussion with the survivor of the rape.

The survivor in this case has been treated appallingly - not just by Alun Cairns - but by the Conservative party as a whole. She has been forced to endure two trials and her rapist is now in prison. The man responsible for the collapse of the first trial went on to be employed by Mr Cairns despite objections from the survivor in the case who was already in Alun Cairns’ staff team.

Many women in Wales are unnerved to have an MP who has such a cavalier attitude towards rape and those who have been raped. He takes decisions on our behalf and he has not properly faced or answered the allegations against him.

Therefore, we the undersigned call upon you as leader of the Conservative Party and the Prime Minister to:

1. Re-open the ministerial investigation and ensure all relevant witnesses are interviewed.
2. Make a referral to the complaints system for MPs.
3. Conduct a full internal party investigation to also discover who else supported and promoted Mr England while dismissing, undermining and belittling the survivor who, in this case, was a Conservative member of staff, to whom the party owed a duty of care.

Alun Cairns must be held to account and he must be forced to give a full and truthful account of his actions in this case as soon as possible.

Annwyl Brif Weinidog

Gwyddom eich bod yn ymwybodol o'r cyhuddiadau yn erbyn yr AS dros Fro Morgannwg, Alun Cairns, ei fod wedi cefnogi a hyrwyddo ei gyfaill Ross England fel ymgeisydd, fel aelod o'i staff a'i reolwr ymgyrchu, pan oedd yn ymwybodol o'r tebygolrwydd cryf i Mr England ddymchwel achos llys trais yn fwriadol.

Pan ddaeth hyn i'r amlwg gyntaf, ymddiswyddodd Alun Cairns fel Ysgrifennydd Gwladol Cymru a cafwyd addewid o ymchwiliad Gweinidogol. Pan ddaeth yr etholiad cafodd Alun Cairns ei ddewis gan y Ceidwadwyr i fod yn ymgeisydd iddynt ym Mro Morgannwg, er ei fod wedi ymddiswyddo o'i swydd fel Gweinidog. Ailetholwyd Alun Cairns.

Ni chanfu'r ymchwiliad Gweinidogol, a ddilynodd yr etholiad, unrhyw dystiolaeth i ddangos ei fod yn gwybod am yr achos llys yn cael ei ddymchwel cyn iddo hybu ei gyfaill. Ers hynny, daeth i'r amlwg nad oedd yr ymchwiliad hwnnw'n cynnwys unrhyw drafodaeth gyda'r goroeswr trais.

Mae'r goroeswr yn yr achos hwn wedi cael ei drin yn arswydus nid yn unig gan Alun Cairns, ond gan y Blaid Geidwadol yn ei chyfanrwydd. Gorfodwyd hi i ddioddef dau achos llys ac mae'r ymosodwr bellach yn y carchar. Aeth y dyn a oedd yn gyfrifol am gwymp yr achos cyntaf ymlaen i gael ei gyflogi gan Mr Cairns er gwaethaf gwrthwynebiadau gan y goroeswr yn yr achos a oedd eisoes yn aelod o staff Alun Cairns.

Mae llawer o fenywod yng Nghymru yn teimlo'n betrus iawn i gael AS sydd ag agwedd mor ddi-hid tuag at dreisio a'r rhai sydd wedi cael eu treisio. Mae'n cymryd penderfyniadau ar ein rhan ac nid yw wedi wynebu neu ateb yr honiadau yn ei erbyn yn iawn.

Felly, yr ydym ni sydd wedi llofnodi isod yn galw arnoch fel arweinydd y Blaid Geidwadol a'r Prif Weinidog i

1. Ail-agor yr ymchwiliad gweinidogol a sicrhau bod yr holl dystion perthnasol yn cael eu cyfweld.
2. Cyfeirio'r cwyn at system gwynion Aelodau Seneddol.
3. Cynnal ymchwiliad mewnol llawn i ddarganfod pwy arall oedd yn cefnogi ac yn hyrwyddo Mr England tra'n diystyru, tanseilio a bychanu'r goroeswr, a oedd, yn yr achos hwn, yn aelod o staff y Ceidwadwyr, tra roess ganddynt ddyletswydd i ofalu amadni.

Rhaid i Alun Cairns gael ei ddwyn i gyfrif a rhaid iddo gael ei orfodi i roi adroddiad llawn a gonest am ei weithredoedd yn yr achos hwn cyn gynted ag y bo modd.

Particularly, that the rape victim was not interviewed is a third violation, the first being rape and the second being the collapsed first trial. This is a matter of deep concern and of structural sexism/devaluation of women, as well as a disregard towards the courts and their function ~ to discover the truth, deliberate what is just, and protect all people, not least vulnerable women!

It is happening far too often with powerful or influential people being able to make the Victim become the guilty party even in Courts of Law. L
