The Rhondda AM has congratulated a local organisation after they obtained a quarter of a million pounds from a successful funding bid.

Cambrian Village Trust has been offered £250,000 through the Welsh Government’s Community Facilities Programme and will be used to replace their temporary building with a more permanent log cabin.

The community organisation in Clydach runs the Lakeside Café Bar in an idyllic location popular with walkers as well as the Cambrian Lakeside Sports Academy 3G Facility.

Leanne Wood AM said this successful funding bid will be a boost for the local community and the Rhondda as a whole. “The lake and café in Clydach is one of the jewels in the crown for the Rhondda valleys,” said Ms Wood.

“This significant sum of money will allow the trust to grow, develop and offer an even more attractive environment for visitors.

“I can see the facility going from strength-to-strength and that is testament to the hard work of everyone involved with the Cambrian Village Trust. Well done everyone!”
