Leanne Wood is appealing for food donations to feed homeless people this Christmas.
The Rhondda AM has set up a designated collection point at her constituency office for non-perishable food as part of the Adref charity initiative.
The donated items - which can include canned food, jam, tea, coffee, sugar, biscuits, Christmas ‘goodies’, crisps and personal hygiene items for woman and men - will be used to make up hampers for distribution in time for Christmas. Leanne’s office at 68 Pontypridd Road, Porth will be taking collections until Thursday December 13th.
Adref has been dedicated to tackling homelessness in the south Wales valleys since their creation in 1990. This is the third year running that Leanne has participated in the hamper appeal.
She said: “Christmas can be a wonderful time for many families but it can also be a difficult and lonely time. This is particularly the case for those who are homeless and struggling to afford the basics.
“The Adref Christmas Hamper appeal is a fantastic idea because it allows people to donate items directly to those who are most in need.
“In the past few appeals people in the Rhondda have responded magnificently. I am hoping we will do the same this year. All donations are welcome – no matter how small they may be. Diolch yn fawr.”
