CORONAVIRUS PREPARATIONS IN THE RHONDDA: The next few weeks could be difficult if the Covid-19 virus situation intensifies.

We know that our local health services are already stretched. We also know that the virus can spread quickly.

We all need to ensure we look out for the most vulnerable in our communities, especially older people.

The way our communities pulled together in the aftermath of the recent floods was inspirational. We saw the very best in people.

We need to be organised. We may not be able to rely on public services - health services and social services may not be able to keep an eye on everyone.

Wouldn’t it be amazing if we could have at least one person in every street throughout the Rhondda finding out who is most at risk and gathering their phone numbers to keep in touch? Whether people are ill or not, lots of older people are going to sensibly choose to spend much more time at home. While some of us can order supplies online, many older people are not online. If we don’t do something, how will these people get food and other basics?

If you are able to find out who needs support in your street, can regularly check up on them and get essential supplies for them, then please register as a community volunteer here.

We need your address, your email address and best number to get hold of you.

PARATOADAU CORONAVIRUS YN Y RHONDDA: Gall y sefyllfa troi'n anodd os yw firws Covid-19 yn dwysáu.

Ni'n gwybod bod ein gwasanaethau iechyd lleol eisoes wedi'u hestyn. Rydym hefyd yn gwybod bod y firws yn gallu lledaenu'n gyflym.

Mae angen i ni sicrhau bod y bobl mwyaf bregus yn ein cymunedau yn iawn, yn enwedig pobl hŷn.

Roedd y ffordd tynnodd ein cymunedau at ei gilydd yn dilyn y llifogydd diweddar yn ysbrydoledig. Gwelsom y gorau mewn pobl.

Mae angen i ni fod yn drefnus. Efallai na fydd modd dibynnu ar wasanaethau cyhoeddus - efallai na fydd ein gwasanaethau iechyd na gwasanaethau cymdeithasol yn gallu cadw llygad ar bawb.

Byddai’n anhygoel pe gallem gael o leiaf un person ar bob stryd yn y Rhondda sy'n gallu casglu gwybodaeth am yr unigolion bregus,a chasglu eu rhifau ffôn er mwyn cadw mewn cysylltiad. Yn sâl neu beidio bydd nifer fawr o bobl hyn yn treulio mwy o amser adre. Gall rhai ohonom archebu nwyddau ar-lein, ond nid yw llawer o bobl hŷn ar-lein. Os na wnawn rywbeth, sut y bydd y bobl hyn yn cael bwyd a phethau sylfaenol eraill?

Os gallwch ddod o hyd i'r bobl bregus yna yn eich stryd, yn agllu cadw golwg cyson arnynt, ac os gallwch gael cyflenwadau hanfodol ar eu cyfer, yna cofrestrwch fel gwirfoddolwr cymunedol yma.

Mae angen eich cyfeiriad, eich cyfeiriad ebost a'ch rhif ffôn er mwyn cael gafael arnoch chi.
