Plaid Cymru leader, Leanne Wood, has urged voters not to let Wales be “invisible in Westminster”, calling on people to give Plaid Cymru a mandate to “defend Wales”.
Ms Wood focused her attacks on the Conservative Party’s record in government and said that Plaid Cymru will stand up for justice and fair play on pensions and social care, and for cash for public services.
She attacked the Labour Party for its hypocrisy in claiming to oppose zero-hour contracts after failing to vote for Plaid Cymru efforts to scrap them in Wales on seven separate occasions.
In an appeal to Labour voters, Leanne Wood said Wales has voted for Labour for a hundred years – “it hasn’t stopped Tory rule”.
Speaking in the debate, Leanne Wood said:
“In Wales, it is Plaid Cymru that stands for fairness and equality for everyone who chooses to call Wales home.
“For a hundred years, Wales has voted Labour. It hasn’t stopped Tory rule.
“Labour in Wales have their own manifesto and are airbrushing their leader out of their campaign. When Plaid Cymru has tried to ban zero hour contracts, and to stop the Bedroom Tax, Labour has voted against us.
“It’s time we stopped doping what we have always done.
“Let’s instead give Wales a voice.
“We will stand up for justice and fair play on pensions, on social care, and for our cash starved public services.
“I urge people back home to give us the mandate we need to defend Wales.
“Liking us isn't enough. We need your support and your vote.
“Don't let our country be invisible in Westminster.
“Vote Plaid, for a successful Wales.”
